Hotels in the Kanda area are reasonably priced. You can stroll through the Jimbocho bookstores by foot from the hotels. The Ueno, Asakusa, and Ryogoku areas are ideal for experiencing Japanese history and culture. They offer a variety of museums and reasonable accommodation prices. Asakusa and Ueno are convenient for staying overnight before an early-morning tour of Nikko.
The area around Tokyo Station offers excellent transportation access to Kyoto and other areas. The Ginza and Nihonbashi areas are convenient for shopping, but hotel prices are on the higher side.
The Akasaka-Roppongi and Nishi-Shinjuku areas are home to many well-known, long-established hotels and newly built luxury
hotels. Chinzanso is known for its beautiful gardens, but it's a bit far
from the station.
Hotels in the Bay Area are relatively affordable and of good quality, but
travel time can be lengthy.
Everyone's travel goals in Japan are different, so it's difficult to recommend the best hotel. For those who want to attend the entire symposium program at a reasonable price and enjoy visiting museums to experience Japanese culture, the Ueno, Asakusa, and Kanda areas are recommended. For those looking to enjoy a glamorous trip, we recommend areas like Ginza and Akasaka. Also, if you usually take the subway instead of taxis, hotels with direct transfers (marked "0Tr") are convenient.
Most of the hotels in Tokyo are modern and clean. If you'd like to stay in a Japanese tatami room, there may be availability, so be sure to give it a try.
