If the number of participants is less than approximately 40, the tour will proceed with only Group A. -
- Group A will depart Kyoto Station and head to Hotel Okura, where Unsodo is very close, just a 5-minute walk. At Unsodo, the group will split into two sub-groups(A1and A2). Group A1 will spend an hour observing the woodblock printing process. Afterwards, they will visit an old Japanese-style warehouse called "kura" to view their old woodblocks, and then spend about an hour exploring famous antique book and map shops around Unsodo. Group A2 will take the opposite route vice vasa.
Afterwards, everyone will board the bus and head to Todaiji Temple. Lunch will be provided on the bus along the way. Please choose from two or three options available in advance (for a fee), or bring your own.

- Kokura Castle is a 10-minute walk from the Zenrin Museum.
- Lunch will be at a nearby restaurant. Details will be announced later.
- After lunch, take a bus directly to Beppu (2 hours).
Originally, we had planned to stay overnight in Yufuin. Beppu is right next to Yufuin. Yufuin is a quiet town surrounded by nature. Beppu is a vibrant city that blends history and entertainment. It's said that finding a Western-style hotel suitable for group travel in Yufuin is difficult. It's more convenient to spend the next day's Hell Tour in Beppu.
- Suginoi Hotel Nijikan is a reasonably priced 4-star hot spring hotel. While Beppu is a seaside city, this hotel is located a little secluded. Dinner is a buffet-style meal featuring Western and various cuisine (included in the fee).
- The next day, after a breakfast buffet (included in the fee), we depart by bus for a tour of the Beppu Hells. This tour takes you through the mysterious landscape of hot mud, boiling water, and steam (known as "Hell"). You are expected to see various hot springs, including Umi (turquoise like the ocean), Kamado (hearth), Bōzu(dome of mud bubble like a skinhead), Shiroike (milky white), Chinoike (blood-red), and Tatsumaki (geyser-like hot spring). The tour lasts approximately one and a half hours.
- Return to JR Hakata Station where tour ends around 13:10. Times are estimates only and may be significantly delayed depending on traffic conditions, so please plan your next schedule well in advance. Lunch is not included. There are many ramen restaurants in and around Hakata Station, so I recommend the food court.
- You can return from Hakata to Kyoto or Tokyo by Shinkansen (two trains per hour). Alternatively, you can take a direct flight from Fukuoka Airport to Tokyo. It's a five-minute subway ride from Hakata Station.
Some people may travel to cities in Kyushu (such as Nagasaki) or western Honshu (such as Yamaguchi [recommended by Newsweek 2024] or Hiroshima).
